CYPHER-AV: Cyber-Physical Resilience for Autonomous Vehicles
- Funding: Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV, formerly BMDV), AVF research programme, grant no. 45AVF5A011
- Lead institution: CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security

- Duration: 10/2024-12/2027
- Role: PI and project coordinator
Autonomous vehicles base their decisions on sensor data, so manipulating that data can lead to accidents. CYPHER-AV analyses how manipulations affect current sensors and the pipelines that process their data, and develops countermeasures. The project has three research directions: defence against physical manipulation of sensors, detection and prevention of manipulation in sensor fusion, and trustworthy processing platforms for automotive use. Results are evaluated on a demonstrator platform and are meant to serve as a reference for future research and product development.
