2025 in numbers

It’s time for another yearly quantitative review of my activity. Metric-wise (continuing my tradition), the year went as follows. As of now, second week of January 2026, my publications reached ~9300 citations according to Google scholar (vs. 8000 last year, ~6700 two years ago/ 5500 three years ago). So growth has consolidated, and I’m expecting to surpass the 2024 citations numbers by about 15% when some missing citations are added for 2025. Google scholar currently lists ~116 publications (vs. 115 last year, most peer-reviewed), and 2 US patents and several pending ones. Our first GPS paper currently has 846 cites (after 753 last year), in total 26 papers have >100 cites. My h-index has increased to 45 (from 44, my i10-index is currently 82, from 76 last year.

Semantic scholar lists 6437 citations and 109 publications. They still indicate how many papers were strongly influenced by my work (439), compared to 402 in previous year. They don’t list which authors were most influenced any more. I supposedly had more than 224 co-authors overall.

Scopus lists 97 publications, ~5120 citations, h-index 34, number of co-authors: 191 (164 last year). Overall they seem to have index around half of the number of documents that Google scholar has access to.

In 2025, I did not chair any event, but I committed as general chair for Wisec'26 in Saarbrücken, and as TPC Chair for AsiaCCS'27 (together with Neil Gong).

Other numbers for 2025: Github lists 79 commits to repositories. I received 7384 mails on my university accounts (after removal of spam). Per working day, that would make around 37 (previous year: 38) mails. I sent 1489 mails (~7.5 per working day, last year 6).

My twitter account currently follows 122, has 433 followers, but I’m not active there at all. I am also still not active on my mastodon account at well ( https://infosec.exchange/@notippenhauer).

My total Youtube stats: 532h of watchtime in 2025 on ~120 videos total (most from the lectures). 52 subscribers. Apart from video of keynote talks, other videos are private, so I won’t share them here.
