Wisec'26 Concluded
We recently concluded WiSec'26 ( https://wisec26.events.cispa.de) in Saarbrücken. Together with Mridula Singh, I was responsible for the organization this time in my role as General Chair. I’m very happy with how the event went, and really enjoyed meeting so many of the participants. So many attendees I hadn’t see for a long time, and in addition I was able to meet many new people. The technical presentations were equally exciting, and I quite liked the setup in the Saarbrücken Conference Center. The keynote of Daniele Antonioli was of course inparticular interesting for me, and Ivan Martinovic and Martin Strohmeier’s keynote on OpenSky highlighted how impactful research projects can be. In addition, Martin Strohmeier’s panel on dual-use in wireless research was also very timely and thought provoking. We had a record number of attendees for WiSec in Europe, with 112 registered attendees.
Our social program with dinner, visit to the underground castle at Saarbrücken Schloss, and visit to Völklinger Hütte was also booked out and we got a lot of positive feedback.
Directly after main event, the WiseML workshop chaired by Onur Günlü was held, for which I gave a keynote on the potential of LLMs in Wireless Security research. This workshop concluded the intense four days of the event!
While we were experiencing the hottest ever measured temperatures in Saarbrücken the week before the conference, fortunately weather cooled down a bit during the conference. Apart from the (unfortunately usual) issues with our german train system, I hope every participant enjoyed their experience in Saarbrücken, and attending WiSec in general.
I would like to sincerely thank all presenters, attendees, reviewers, and support staff for their support and participation in the event, and hope to host you again in Saarbrücken soon!
